Vase - Steinzeug - Japan - Facettierte geschnitzte Holzmaserung - Toyofuku Makoto (1953–) (Ohne mindestpreis)

Item Description A substantial faceted flower vase (面取花入) by 豊福誠 Toyofuku Makoto (1953–), full member of the Japan Kogei Association (日本工芸会正会員) and Professor Emeritus of Ceramics at the Tokyo University of the Arts. The piece bears an exhibition management label on the base, indicating it was shown at one of Toyofuku's solo exhibitions. The vase stands approximately 38 cm tall with a mouth diameter of approximately 16.5 cm. The body is hand-faceted into a multi-sided form that tapers gently toward the dark, unglazed foot. Each facet is decorated with deeply incised, wood-grain-like geometric markings — vertical striations and branching lines that evoke the texture of natural timber or the growth patterns of plants. A warm olive-green and earth-tone glaze covers the body, pooling subtly in the carved grooves and shifting in tone across the facets. The upper neck and interior are finished in a smooth, luminous white glaze that contrasts quietly with the textured lower body. The interior base shows fine, naturally occurring crazing consistent with the firing process. The artist's seal is impressed on the base. The tomobako (artist's own wooden storage box) is signed and sealed by Toyofuku in brush calligraphy on the lid, with the title 面取花入 inscribed on the front panel. The box retains its original fabric cord. Size Height: 38 cm Mouth diameter: 16.5 cm Condition The vase is in overall good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Fine crazing on the interior base is a natural result of the firing process and was present from the time of creation. The tomobako shows minor warping of the lid and light surface wear consistent with age. Artist Profile 豊福誠 Toyofuku Makoto (1953–) was born in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. He completed his Master's degree at the Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geidai), Graduate School of Fine Arts, in 1979, where he studied under distinguished professors Tamura Koichi and Asano Akira. He was appointed Associate Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2001 and promoted to full Professor in the Department of Crafts (Ceramics) in 2007, later attaining the title of Professor Emeritus. He is a full member (seikai-in) of the Japan Kogei Association, a member of the Japan Ceramic Society, and a member of the Oriental Ceramic Society. He won the Mitsukoshi Prize at the Dento Kogei Shinsaku-ten (Traditional Crafts New Works Exhibition) in 1999 and has participated in international ceramic exchange exhibitions in China and the United States. His works are regularly shown at the East Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition and the Traditional Crafts Ceramics Section Exhibition. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally.
