Up for auction today is a V. Kohlert's Söhne Graslitz C Boxwood Clarinet. This vintage clarinet was made by V. Kohlert's Söhne, a well-known Bohemian instrument manufacturer based in Graslitz (now Kraslice, Czech Republic). Kohlert was one of the largest wind instrument makers in the region during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This is a pre-1918 instrument, when Graslitz was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This is a rare piece of history, highly sought after by collectors and vintage instrument specialists! Condition: The clarinet is in good condition considering its age and shows clear signs of previous use. While the pads look as they may have been recently replaced, the instrument will need a full overhaul to be in pristine playing condition. As this instrument is historically interesting, I have chosen to not do restoration work on it and leave that to the eventual owner.
