Kosta Boda - Kjell Engman - Armleuchter (2) - Glas - ‘CONNECT’ XL

On offer is a stunning pair of KOSTA BODA art glass candleholders, designed in the 1970s by the internationally-renowned Swedish artist Kjell Engman. Called CONNECT, the two candlesticks together look like a candelabra, though they were designed to look like two bodies nestled in an embrace and connecting as one they form a heart. These large, heavy, clear hand blown glass / crystal candleholders feature sculpted, undulating lines and controlled bubbles throughout, which make them seem effervescent with love and joy. An elegant and collectible example of Scandinavian / Nordic modern design, the pieces are perfect to offer as a romantic gift, to place on a dining table or sideboard, or to add to an art glass collection. They are suitable for both tea lights or taper candles. DIMENSIONS: Together as one, they measure 30.5 cm high, 15 cm wide and 9 cm deep. Individually, the taller piece is 30 cm high, 7.5 wide and 9 cm deep; the smaller piece measures is 22 cm high and 7.5 cm wide and 9 cm deep. They have a combined weight of almost 5 kg. CONDITION: The pair is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks or flaws, just some small signs of wear on the underside. SHIPPING: The candleholders will be the carefully wrapped and boxed and shipped with a tracking code. The higher shipping charges are due to the weight of the pieces and the required parking materials. KJELL ENGMAN studied at the University of Arts, Crafts and Design (Stockholm) and at the Pilchuck Glass School (Seattle USA). He has been a prolific glass artist and designer at Kosta Boda since 1978. Engman was born into a family of musicians and has worked as a professional rock guitarist. His musical energy and joie de vivre inspire and radiate in his art glass objects and figures. KOSTA BODA was founded as a glassworks manufacturer of utilitarian and art glass in 1742, and has expanded into a highly successful, global Swedish design brand. Its designers are renowned for their first-rate craftsmanship, ingenuity and artistic flair, which have made the company’s objects unique, inspiring and bold. Kosta Boda has a history of working with renowned artists and designers, such as Monica Backstrom, Anna Ehrner, Kjell Engman, Mona Morales-Schildt, Ulrica Hydman-Vallien, Bertil Vallien, and Ann and Göran Wärff — among others.
