Mortlach 21 Jahre 2020 Special Reléase

This Mortlach was matured in small batches to achieve the intense character of its distillery. It will then be carefully finished in casks that previously held Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherries to create new levels of flavor and aroma. On the nose: Smooth and rounded, with a slight tingle. The first impression is of intense dried fruit, followed by those freshly baked butter buns, perhaps spread with lime marmalade. It soon becomes slightly savory and juicy, but retains a light citrus note. A few drops of water modify this latter note and reduce the aroma. On the palate: Drinking neat, it is a smooth whisky for its strength, with a truly honeyed texture. The wonderfully intense flavor on the palate is initially sweet with dried fruit, followed by a rich and savory taste with a surprising chili pepper kick as it comes down.
