It is crafted on a wood base with black lacquer finish. A horizontal gold leaf band runs across the surface, decorated with two pine trees and scattered pine needles created by the maki-e technique. Pine symbolises longevity and good fortune in Japanese aesthetics. The maki-e work is delicate with crisp lines, and the gold leaf displays natural texture with varying visual effects at different viewing angles. It is a separate cover box, and the interior is finished with plain black lacquer. Ideal for storing letters, stationery and small ornaments. The set includes the original inscribed paulownia storage box and yellow wrapping cloth. The wooden box lid bears the handwritten Japanese inscription “金帯松蒔絵 文筥”. The lacquer surface has minor natural aging marks. No obvious scratches, cracks or repairs. The paulownia box shows slight dust accumulation. Overall condition is good for its age.
