The SG-800 is a set-neck, coil-tappable member of Yamaha's respected SG family – a more affordable sibling to the famous SG-2000 and SG-1000. Both the "Made in Japan" stamp and the serial number (001311) are stamped on the back of the headstock, and the tuners are stamped "YAMAHA JAPAN," confirming they are original. This is an honest, well-played vintage instrument. Cosmetic condition: As a vintage guitar, it shows its age honestly. The back of the body has significant playwear and buckle-related scratching. The top, sides and headstock show lighter scratches and marks. The oil-stain finish shows some cloudiness/hazing (a whitish bloom) in areas, which is typical of aged oil-stain finishes and is disclosed here for transparency. The cream binding and pickguard show age-related yellowing. The bridge shows some tarnish/light corrosion. None of this affects playability. Neck & frets: The neck appears straight to the eye and plays without obvious issues (please note we cannot provide a precise measurement). The neck joint (set-in) is solid and clean with no cracks. The frets show uneven wear typical of a well-played vintage instrument: the lower positions retain good height (approx. 80%), while the middle positions show more wear with some flattening and string grooves (approx. 50–60%).
