This piece is crafted in the traditional Zokoku-nuri style, a renowned craft originating from Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture. The box features an elegant design of stylized chrysanthemums (kiku) and foliage. The decoration is executed in gold and deep red lacquer against a distinctive textured, stippled "ishime" (stone-surface) background, which is the hallmark of the Zokoku-nuri technique. The interior and base are finished in a deep, lustrous black lacquer. The lid is signed with a rectangular seal reading 「正昭」 (Masaaki), referring to the respected lacquer artist Morishige Masaaki, known for his mastery of Kagawa lacquerware.
