Waterloo-Medaille Sterling-Silber. Limited Edition No. 542/1000 1975

Official Waterloo Medal – Limited Edition No. 542/1000 – Sterling Silver – Framed Presentation Set (1975) An impressive official sterling silver presentation set featuring the celebrated Waterloo Medal, designed by the renowned Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci (1783–1855). This faithful full-size reproduction was issued in 1975 by The Waterloo Committee in collaboration with the Library of Imperial History to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo (1815–1975). Only 1,000 numbered examples of this edition were produced, making it a highly desirable collector's item for enthusiasts of numismatics, military history and British historical memorabilia. The original Waterloo Medal was commissioned shortly after the Battle of Waterloo to celebrate the Allied victory over Napoleon. Today, it is regarded as one of the greatest masterpieces of medallic art.
