Item Description Japanese Bronze Crane-Neck Vase with Gold Imperial Chrysanthemum Crest — Takaoka Copperware This elegant bronze vase is a fine example of Takaoka Copperware (高岡銅器), Japan's foremost centre for cast metalwork with a history spanning over 400 years. The piece is finished in a deep, lustrous green patina and formed in the graceful "crane-neck" (鶴首, tsurukubi) silhouette — a slender, elongated neck flaring gently at the rim, tapering into a full, rounded body. At the centre of the body, a gold Imperial Chrysanthemum Crest (菊の御紋) is applied. The vase rests on its original stand (plastic). Size Height: 23 cm Width (diameter): 8 cm Weight: 720 g Include Wooden name plaque (木札), stand (plastic), informational booklet (栞), and the original paper box. Condition The vase is in very good overall condition; as a piece that has been kept in storage, it shows minor scratches and light soiling consistent with age. Engraved inscriptions on the underside of the vase and on the reverse of the stand record that this piece was presented as a commemorative gift marking a state decoration. Artist Profile Takaoka Copperware (高岡銅器) is a traditional Japanese metal-casting craft originating in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, with a history spanning over 400 years. Renowned for its refined casting and patination techniques, it was designated a National Traditional Craft in 1975. Takaoka Copperware pieces are prized in Japan and abroad for their sculptural elegance and the depth and subtlety of their patinated finishes.
