SHORT DESCRIPTION

An elegant Elgin De Luxe from the golden age of American watchmaking. Its curved rectangular Art Deco case, Roman numerals, blue steel hands and subsidiary seconds display create a distinctive 1940s appearance.

The watch is powered by Elgin’s American-made Grade 558, Model 3 in-house movement with manual winding and 17 jewels. The movement is signed “ELGIN 558 U.S.A.” and carries serial number L274058, dating the watch to approximately 1945.

This is a genuine American Elgin from the company’s historic US production—not a later Elgin fitted with a Japanese movement.

CONDITION

Presented in well-preserved vintage condition. The dial displays light, authentic age-related patina, while the blue steel hands remain attractive and clearly legible.

The 10K gold-filled case shows normal signs of age and wear, including some local wear to the gold-filled surface. The watch is fitted with a brown leather strap.
