Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
Collection of four decorative engraved seals/stamps featuring Arabic/Persian calligraphic inscriptions and ornamental designs.
The collection includes two engraved brass seals, one of which is mounted in a silver-coloured metal setting, together with two engraved agate pieces.
One particularly attractive seal is made from naturally layered red and white agate, displaying a beautiful two-colour appearance. The larger red agate seal is extensively engraved with calligraphy and architectural/ornamental elements and is preserved within its metal setting. Please note that this larger agate is broken and shows several visible fractures, as clearly illustrated in the photographs.
Of particular interest, one of the brass seals bears the engraved date 1240 in the Solar Hijri calendar, corresponding approximately to 1861–1862 AD, around 165 years ago. The engraved date is visible in the photographs.
According to Catawiki's expert assessment, the collection consists of Islamic personal signet seals and talismanic amulets, likely dating from the 19th to early 20th century, during the Qajar period.
The expert further identified the dated seal as a 19th-century personal stamp from India or the Middle East, of a type used as a signature by a local merchant or official. The pieces were assessed as being made of carnelian agate and brass.
The pieces display different styles of calligraphy, engraving and construction, making the group an interesting collection of historical and decorative seals.
Age-related wear, patina, scratches, oxidation and other traces of use are present. The condition of each individual piece, including the damage to the large agate seal, is clearly documented in the photographs.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
