A small Edwardian sterling silver photograph frame, fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1910. Of rectangular form, the silver front is designed with a broad gently moulded border, decorated at intervals with applied ribbon-tied motifs. The restrained geometric treatment and repeating ribbon ornament give the frame an elegant Edwardian character. The lower border is struck with full British hallmarks for Birmingham, 1910, including the lion passant for sterling silver and date letter l. Of miniature proportions, measuring approximately 8 × 5.5 cm, the frame retains its green leather-covered backing and hinged rear support, allowing it to stand for display. The glass is no longer present. The silver displays minor surface marks, rubbing and patination consistent with age and use, with some small dents and irregularities to the edges and corners. The green leather covering to the reverse shows considerable age-related wear, particularly around the edges, with rubbing, losses and deterioration. The rear support remains functional.
