鳥城彫 Ujobori - 鳥城彫 Ujobori - Wandteller - Holz - Ujobori Wandpaneel / Tablett

Item Description A beautiful hand-carved Ujo-bori wood panel from Okayama, Japan, versatile enough to use as a wall decoration or a display tray. Ujo-bori is a traditional Okayama craft named after the city's castle nickname, "Ujo" (Crow Castle), and is prized for its combination of deep, expressive relief carving directly into natural wood grain and a rich lacquer finish. The piece is carved with a graceful leaping deer in reddish lacquer, set within a decorative roundel, alongside two further carved seal-like medallions bearing auspicious characters — a composition typical of this workshop's output, from Ujo-bori Co., Ltd. of Okayama City. The reverse is stamped with the carved mark "作" (maker's mark), authenticating it as genuine workshop production rather than a mass-produced import. This is a 1990s piece, and it remains in unused condition. The rich, natural wood grain combined with the deep carving and lacquer accents makes it equally suited to being hung on a wall as a decorative panel or used flat as a serving or display tray. Size Height 18cm × Width 31.3cm × Thickness 1.8cm Weight 300g Condition Unused, from the 1990s. No damage noted; please refer to photos for full detail. Maker/Craft Profile This piece was made using Ujo-bori, the traditional woodcarving craft of Okayama, western Japan, named after the city's castle, nicknamed "Ujo" (Crow Castle). Ujo-bori is known for combining deeply expressive, realistic carving with the natural grain and character of the wood itself, finished with a rich lacquer coating that deepens with age and use. The reverse of the piece carries the workshop's carved maker's mark, confirming its authenticity as genuine Ujo-bori production. Notice The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by DHL, FedEx or Japan Post depending on the situation. Please note that we may use recycled cardboard boxes for outer packaging. It takes about 2–3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please note that as of 1 July 2026, the EU has abolished the de minimis customs exemption. All shipments to EU countries are now subject to import duties and VAT regardless of the declared value of the goods. For shipments with a declared value under €150, an additional customs processing fee of €3 may also apply. Sometimes Customs or the delivery company in your country may contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you can answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will be returned to us and it costs more than double the shipping fee for reshipping. We do appreciate your kind cooperation.
