Azes ruled a powerful Indo-Scythian kingdom across Gandhara, Taxila, the Punjab and the Indus Valley, where Saka conquerors succeeded the declining Indo-Greek kingdoms. His bilingual coinage in Greek and Kharoshthi reflects this fusion of Hellenistic, Iranian and Indian traditions.
