Japanisches schwarzes Tomesode-Kimono - Japan - Mitte der Heisei-Ära
The *Kuro-tomesode* is the most formal attire for married women in Japan, typically worn at solemn occasions such as family celebrations and weddings. Its design—featuring five family crests—signifies the highest standard of formal dress. The garment is solid black, drawing the eye to the continuous, scroll-like patterns adorning the lower hem. Artisans have employed a combination of gold-thread *koma-shishu* and gold-leaf shading to depict motifs such as aristocratic carriages, autumn chrysanthemums, maple leaves, openwork folding fans, and waterscapes. These intricate, multi-layered patterns create a sophisticated aesthetic through the striking contrast of black and gold, while the artisan's seal, carved in seal script on the side, attests to its handcrafted nature.
As a well-preserved vintage piece, it exhibits signs of normal wear—such as slight yellowing, water stains, pulled threads, minor dust marks, and dust accumulation along the edges.
