A rare authentic field-used ethnographic set comprising a traditional cylindrical hide quiver and two matching hand-forged iron arrows. Zande (Azande) People, Congo Basin (Democratic Republic of the Congo / South Sudan border) Mid-20th Century (c. 1950s) The quiver is constructed from a heavy, rolled animal hide displaying an authentic aged patina and characteristic desiccation. It is fitted with an integrated hide shoulder strap and a protective top cap trimmed with original natural animal fur. The narrow profile is characteristic of Zande hunting gear used in dense gallery forest environments. The two arrows feature hand-hammered iron points with multi-tiered, harpoon-style barbs designed for game hunting. The iron heads are mounted onto lightweight reed shafts using traditional plant-fiber wrapping and coated in dark natural resin. Feathers are secured with fiber binding at the base. Good ethnographic condition. The leather shows age-appropriate hardening, surface dryness, and light wear consistent with field use. Iron arrowheads show stable oxidation and dark patina. Feathers show age-related wear. No modern repairs or alterations.
