Fukuno Pottery Studio(福野陶房) - Michitaka Fukuno(福野道隆) - Chawan - Kasurimon-wan (Kasuri-Muster-Schüssel) - Steinzeug - Iron Glaze

**Michitaka Fukuno – Kasuri-patterned bowl – Kasama ware, Japan** This richly decorated bowl was made by Michitaka Fukuno, a ceramic artist working in Kasama, Ibaraki Prefecture. Fukuno studied under the distinguished Kasama artist Motohiko Ito, from whom he learned the *nunome* technique of giving a ceramic surface the fine texture of cloth. He later trained in Kutani overglaze painting as a trainee of Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs. He is a full member of the Japan Kōgei Association. Fukuno brings these skills together in his distinctive coloured ceramics. The exterior of this bowl is covered with flowing red bands, pale textured areas, fine dark lines and delicate gold-coloured accents. Its geometric composition evokes *kasuri*, a traditional Japanese woven textile. The varied brushstrokes give the carefully arranged pattern warmth and movement. The bowl rewards a closer look at its surface: colour and texture create a sense of depth rather than a flat painted design. Fukuno achieves such effects through carefully layered decoration and repeated firings. Inside, the restrained earthy glaze provides a striking contrast to the vivid exterior. The brown speckles and flowing glaze marks are part of the bowl’s original ceramic character, appreciated in Japanese ceramics as *keshiki*, or “scenery”. They are not stains from use. The bowl is accompanied by its signed wooden box. The inscription on the lid reads “Kasuri-mon Wan” (kasuri-patterned bowl). **Dimensions:** approximately 8.8 cm wide × 6.8 cm high **Weight with wooden box:** approximately 300 g **Estimated weight after protective packaging:** approximately 900 g Please examine the photographs closely, as they form part of the description. 【SHIPPING & IMPORT TAXES】 Shipping will be arranged from Japan by EMS (Japan Post) or FedEx, depending on the destination country and the shipping conditions available at the time of dispatch. A tracking number will be provided after shipment. For eligible EU orders valued at €150 or less, VAT is collected in advance by Catawiki using the IOSS system where applicable. Please note that following the abolition of the EU de minimis customs exemption, additional import duties, customs clearance fees, or other charges may apply even to low-value shipments. Any taxes, duties, customs clearance fees, or other charges imposed in the destination country are the responsibility of the buyer. Please monitor the tracking information carefully after shipment. Customs authorities or the carrier may not always contact the recipient immediately, even when action is required. If the tracking information shows that the parcel has arrived at customs or has stopped moving for several days, please contact your local customs office or carrier directly to confirm whether any action, documentation, or payment is required. Once the parcel has arrived in the destination country, I cannot contact the local customs authorities or delivery office on the buyer's behalf, so the buyer is responsible for monitoring the shipment and responding promptly to any requests. Failure to complete customs procedures, pay required charges, or collect the parcel within the local storage period may result in the parcel being returned to Japan. If a parcel is returned due to the buyer's failure to respond to customs, the carrier, or the local delivery office, a refund cannot be guaranteed, and any return shipping, storage, or reshipping costs may be charged to the buyer. All items will be carefully packed to ensure safe international transportation.
