Byōbu-Faltschirm - Vier-Paneel-Byōbu-Faltbildschirm – Seide – Sieben Kraniche, Kiefer und Sonnenaufgang – - Japan

Four-Panel Byōbu Folding Screen – Silk – 7 Cranes, Pine and Sunrise – Gold Decoration – Hand-Painted – Artist’s Seal – 177 cm Wide – Showa Period (1926–1989) ◎ This folding screen will be shipped from Japan. Please take customs duties, VAT, and other applicable import charges into consideration before placing your bid. This is a highly auspicious folding screen depicting a sunrise rising between pine trees and seven cranes, painted on silk. Parts of the sunrise and pine trees are three-dimensionally painted using gold pigment made by mixing gold powder with adhesive. The shimmering golden surface shows different expressions depending on how the light falls on it. On the left side of the folding screen are the words “萬年長寿” (longevity for ten thousand years) and the artist’s seal. Although this is an old folding screen from the Showa period (1926–1989), it is in very good condition. It would bring a beautiful Japanese atmosphere to a living room. Folding screens have traditionally been used in Japan as furnishings to divide spaces. In recent years, however, they have also become popular around the world as large-scale works of art for decorating walls. By displaying all four panels fully opened, this piece can also be enjoyed as a large landscape painting approximately 177 cm wide. 【Dimensions】 Width: approx. 177 cm Height: approx. 90 cm Thickness: approx. 1.5 cm Weight: 3,500 g 【Condition】 This is a vintage item, but it is in good overall condition, with no tears or major stains. However, as this is a vintage item, there may be minor signs of age or light stains. Please carefully review the condition and place your bid only if you understand and accept the vintage condition. 【Important Information Before Bidding】 This item will be shipped from Japan. The item price and shipping costs do not include import duties, VAT, Catawiki fees, or other applicable charges. Customers outside Japan are therefore advised to check the import duties in their country before placing a bid, or to refer to the Catawiki Help Centre “Customs and taxes” below. ・Understanding import taxes https://www.catawiki.com/en/help/buyer-customs-and-taxes/understanding-import-taxes ・Understanding customs fees and import charges https://www.catawiki.com/en/help/buyer-customs-and-taxes/understanding-customs-fees-and-import-charges 【Shipping】 We will carefully pack the item and ship it from Japan via EMS whenever available. (For example, shipping this item to the Netherlands, Italy, or Switzerland costs €73. However, EMS is currently temporarily unavailable to some EU countries, such as France, Germany, and Austria, so shipping to these countries will be by courier at a cost of €140.)
