PRODUCT TITLE
Exquisite Kutani Ware Ash Glazed Gold Leaf Flower Vase by Takashi Kitamura - Master Artisan Japanese Studio Pottery Elegant Chawan-Style Flower Vessel
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Description
This is a stunning example of contemporary Japanese studio pottery.
It is an unused, beautifully preserved flower vase (Ichirinshashi) created by the renowned Kutani master craftsman, Takashi Kitamura.
An organic ash glaze (Haiyu) gives the surface a rustic, stone-like appearance.
Brilliant applications of genuine gold leaf (Kinsai) create a striking contrast against the earthy background.
Its minimalist yet powerful design reflects the deep aesthetic of the Japanese tea ceremony (Chado).
Our compact size makes it perfect for a single stem flower, bringing traditional Japanese elegance to any modern interior.
Artist Background
Takashi Kitamura is a highly celebrated modern Kutani ware master who leads the famous Chikuryu Kiln (Chikuryu-gama) in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
He holds the prestigious title of Traditional Craftsman (Dento Kogeishi) and serves as an Associate of the Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition).
His innovative approach blends timeless techniques with bold, luxurious elements, often utilizing pure gold and platinum.
Widely recognized for his iconic "Kitamaebune" cargo ship series and magnificent decorative platters, he was even appointed as a Tourism Ambassador for Ishikawa Prefecture.
Born into a rich lineage of ceramic excellence, Kitamura received the East Niemi cultural award (Higashikuninomya Cultural Award) in 2009 for his dedication to the arts.
Collectors worldwide deeply respect his poetic style for its embodiment of Japanese nature and spiritual heritage.
Authentic hand-painted signature of the artist is visible on the bottom of this flower vessel.
