Kabuto (1) - Japan - 1970-1980
This is a high-quality Japanese Samurai Armor set (Yoroi and Kabuto), traditionally displayed for Tango no Sekku (Boys Day) to pray for the childs health and success. Judging from its style and quality, it dates from the Showa period (approx. 1970s-1980s).
The armor is laced with vivid vermilion (orange) threads. In samurai culture, this color represents vitality and protection against evil spirits. It features elaborate gold-plated metal fittings (Kanagu) and luxurious brocade fabric depicting dragons and floral motifs.
The complete set includes the Kabuto (helmet), Menpo (mask), Do (chest armor), Sode (shoulder guards), Kote (sleeves), Haidate (thigh guards), and Suneate (shin guards). The armor sits majestically on its original wooden storage box.
