Japanese Hand-Painted Silk Hanging Scroll – Squirrel Among Bamboo and Thistles – Signed Kei (溪) A charming traditional Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku), featuring a beautifully detailed squirrel among bamboo, young bamboo shoots and flowering thistles. This original hand-painted artwork is executed in delicate colours on silk, displaying the refined brushwork and harmonious composition characteristic of traditional Japanese painting. The lively squirrel, carefully rendered bamboo leaves and softly coloured flowers create an elegant natural scene. The composition expresses the beauty of nature and the changing seasons. The painting bears the artist’s handwritten signature “溪” (Kei), accompanied by a matching red artist’s seal. Both the signature and seal are present, although the artist’s full identity has not been established.
