Item Description This is a striking ceramic vase by the Japanese potter Sentō, marked with the artist's seal on the base and accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako), which bears the inscription "Bronze Glaze Vase" in the artist's hand. The vase has a tall, faceted square form that tapers gently toward the base, with a single vertical slit cut into the front face and accented with a warm ochre-toned glaze contrasting against the deep, matte bronze-green body. The restrained, architectural silhouette gives the piece a modern sculptural quality while remaining rooted in traditional Japanese ceramic technique. The unglazed foot reveals a warm terracotta-colored clay body, with the artist's impressed seal visible at the center. Originally purchased at an antiques corner of a department store in Osaka approximately thirty years ago, the vase has been kept carefully in a private home since that time. It suits both traditional and contemporary interiors and works equally well as a single-stem flower vase or as a standalone decorative object. Size Height: 33 cm Width: 9 cm Depth: 9 cm Weight 1047 g Condition The vase shows no chips or cracks upon visual inspection. Small kiln-related surface spots and minor glaze imperfections consistent with age and handmade production are visible, particularly toward the lower body, as shown in the photographs. The original wooden box shows wear consistent with its age.
