Feinster unrestaurierter juvenile Keichousaurus hui, Meeresreptil des frühen Trias. - Fossiles Skelett (Ohne mindestpreis)
Scientific name: Keichousaurus hui, Young 1958 (marine reptile Pachypleurosauridae family)
Location: Guanglin, Guizhou Province of China
Geological Formation: Falang - Huxia Formation
Age: Early Triassic (~242 million years ago)
Size: 4 cm - Matrix: 8 cm x 6 cm x 1,6 cm
Ref: J723
Observations: This extraordinary fossil specimen of Keichousaurus hui represents an exceptionally juvenile individual, distinguished by its remarkably small size, outstanding preservation, and completely natural condition.
Unlike many specimens commonly available on the fossil market, this exceptional individual is entirely unrestored, with absolutely no reconstruction, repairs, artificial enhancements, or paint applied to any part of the fossil.
The specimen exhibits remarkable anatomical preservation from the skull to the very tip of the tail, maintaining its original fossilized condition throughout. Particularly noteworthy is the skull, beautifully preserved in ventral view, allowing the underside of the cranial anatomy to be clearly observed.
The surrounding rock matrix displays only a single fracture in its upper section, which has been carefully reattached. This repair affects exclusively the matrix and not the fossil itself, which remains completely untouched and unrestored. Has been prepared using sandblasting method.
The combination of its unusually juvenile developmental stage, exceptional completeness, pristine preservation, and absolute absence of restoration makes this specimen particularly remarkable and highly desirable.
An outstanding example of Keichousaurus hui, offering an exceptional opportunity to acquire a genuinely unrestored juvenile specimen in superb natural condition.
Keichousaurus hui is a small marine reptile from the Triassic of southern China. A member of the Pachypleurosauridae family, with a long neck, paddle-like limbs, and a slender tail, adapted for swimming in shallow marine environments. Fossils, often found in black shale, reveal a diet of small fish and invertebrates, inferred from its needle-like teeth.
It is also very interesting to observe how the veins of natural calcite that run through the rock also run through the fossil, an indicator that the bones are all authentic, since the mineralization processes that the rock subsequently underwent along its natural fractures, mineralized everything, including the parts that ran through the skeleton.
All of our fossils come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Every week, the issued Certificates of Authenticity are updated in our database verification system on our website. If you find that your certificate has not yet been updated, please contact us and we will update it immediately. Display box not included.
