A finely crafted Japanese chawan (tea bowl), accompanied by its original signed tomobako (wooden storage box), reflecting both authenticity and traditional craftsmanship. The calligraphy on the box identifies the maker as "Kageyoshi," ensuring the piece's provenance. This piece is distinguished by the classic characteristics of Ki-Seto (Yellow Seto) ware. It features a warm, semi-transparent yellow glaze that mimics the texture of fine wood grain. Unlike plain yellow wares, this bowl is decorated with distinctive green copper spots (tobi-glaze), which provide a striking contrast against the soft beige background. This technique adds a lively, organic rhythm to the surface, highly prized in tea ceremony aesthetics. The well-balanced form sits comfortably in the hand, with a sturdy foot ring that speaks to its functional beauty. The interior glaze presents a soft, luminous depth, inviting quiet contemplation in line with the aesthetics of wabi-sabi. The subtle variations in the glaze color are a testament to the natural ash firing process. Each detail reflects careful craftsmanship, from the precisely finished foot to the controlled application of the copper spots. The presence of the signed tomobako further supports its origin as a preserved studio work by a recognized artist. Condition Very good condition, with no cracks or restorations. The green spots and slight variations in the yellow glaze are intentional artistic features inherent to the Ki-Seto style.
