An Elegant Arita Ware Tea Set with Delicate Blue and Red Painted Decoration This refined Japanese tea set is a beautiful example of Arita ware (有田焼), presented in its original fitted wooden storage box. The set is made from fine white porcelain with a smooth, luminous glaze. The restrained decoration consists of delicate flowing lines and small abstract motifs painted mainly in soft blue, with subtle touches of red. Against the clean white porcelain, the sparse decoration creates a particularly light and elegant appearance. The teapot has a compact rounded body with a short spout and small upright side lugs designed to support the removable bamboo handle. The lid continues the painted decoration and is finished with a small rounded finial. The accompanying tea cups repeat the same understated pattern, creating a harmonious ensemble while retaining the delicate irregularities characteristic of hand decoration. The wooden storage box is inscribed: 「特撰　茶器」 Specially Selected Tea Ware and: 「有田焼」 Arita Ware The fitted interior retains the individual compartments for the vessels, and the original bamboo teapot handle is also included. About Arita Ware Arita ware is one of Japan's most important porcelain traditions, originating in the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyushu. Production developed from the early 17th century, and Arita became especially celebrated for its fine white porcelain body and painted decoration. Over the centuries, Arita potters produced everything from richly decorated export porcelain to restrained tea utensils intended for everyday and ceremonial use. This set represents the more delicate side of the tradition, using ample undecorated white space together with light blue and red brushwork to create a quiet, refined aesthetic. Dimensions The teapot measures approximately 10 cm in body diameter and approximately 7–8 cm high without the bamboo handle. The tea cups measure approximately 7–8 cm in diameter and approximately 5 cm high. Please refer to the measurement photographs for exact dimensions. Condition Very good vintage condition. No obvious major cracks or repairs are visible in the photographs. Minor irregularities in the painted decoration and glaze are consistent with the production process. The original wooden storage box and removable bamboo handle are included. The box shows natural signs of age and storage.
