鉄黒漆塗切付伊予札碁石頭二枚胴具足
Tetsu kuro urushi nuri koishi gashira nimai-do gusoku
Edo period , 1603-1868
.
An exceptional, complete, and authentic Japanese Samurai armor of the Tosei-Gusoku dating from the Edo Period.
.
This armor is a good example of a period composite piece, combining a robust warfare do from the momoyama/Early Edo period (17th century) with other parts from later Edo period .
.
KABUTO : A rare and theatrical Uege- Kabuto with a hineno zunari iron base decorated with genuine brown bear fur , a style popularized during the Sengoku period to terrify opponents. It is surmounted by a striking gilded leather circular Maedate representing the rising sun .
.
The multi-plate iron structure shows a fine antique iron patina under the fur, with a four-tiered Shikoro lacquered in traditional red .
.
HANPO : An authentic Edo iron demi-mask protecting the jaw and cheeks, leaving the nose and mouth uncovered for optimal breathing during combat. The interior features its original rec lacquer coating with natural age-related minor flaking. It includes a flexible throat guard made of dense, hand-woven iron chainmail kusari stitched on antique fabric.
.
DO : A heavy iron do made of horizontal plates riveted together with rounded shapes. Many details build indicate a core designed in the 17th century end momoyama/early Edo for practical battlefield protection against spears and early firearms. The interior reveals thick, genuine leather . Very good piece .
.
WAKIBIKI : The Wakibiki , pieces of auxiliary Japanese armor designed to protect the samurai's armpits and flanks. The wakibiki was worn underneath inside do or over these vulnerable areas. It was typically made of fabric reinforced with chainmail kusari .
.
KOTE : the bishamon kote integrates the upper shoulder defenses sode directly into the arm guard as a single continuous piece. The construction features black lacquered iron plates protecting the shoulders, fine chainmail kusari for elbow flexibility, and protective hand plates , all hand-stitched on traditional indigo-dyed hemp backing.
.
HAIDATE : Lacquered leather plates providing lightweight, flexible protection ,thighs/legs protections .
.
SUNEATE : These antique suneate ,samurai shin guards feature rigid vertical splints encased in protective fabric. Crafted from hardened leather they offered lightweight, flexible protection, while the lower leather patch (abumi-zure) prevented friction against stirrups .
.
The armor comes with its original antique lacquered wooden storage box, which serves as a traditional presentation and preservation of the armor .
.
Strong armor, an authenticSamurai armor .
The lacquer shows loss and natural age patina with historical chips and sew trace . Textiles and lacing showing expected period wear some lacings deteriorated ,testifying to the genuine historical use with a real battlefield do .and Edo later add.
.
Antique beautiful armor for a Japanese collection or a Samurai collection .
