IKEA - Knut & Marianne Hagberg - Stuhl - Metall - Sälen-Stuhl

IKEA vintage – Knut & Marianne Hagberg – Sälen Lounge Chair – Burgundy Red Metal & Pine Wood – 1982 – Original Vintage Scandinavian Design Rare and iconic Sälen lounge chair, designed by Knut & Marianne Hagberg for IKEA Sweden in 1982. An excellent example of IKEA’s early experimentation with industrial materials and minimal construction — featuring a welded steel mesh seat and solid pine armrests. The Sälen was part of a short-lived but bold exploration of fabric-free comfort, combining geometric lines with Scandinavian functionality. A striking, architectural chair that’s become increasingly hard to find, especially in this condition. — Design history: Commissioned during a period of innovation at IKEA, the Sälen chair reflects the company’s interest in structural expression and affordability — using no fabric, no padding, and no unnecessary details. The Hagberg duo, long-time IKEA collaborators, designed this model with a focus on simplicity, strength, and ease of assembly. Produced in Sweden and sold flat-packed, the Sälen belongs to a generation of pre-Skandinavisk minimalism that now commands attention from collectors and design historians alike. — Condition: • Excellent restored vintage condition • All parts original • Freshly cleaned and repainted metal frame in deep burgundy red • Protective finish applied over the metal • Pine wood arms treated with oil and wax — subtle sheen, no over-restoration • Structurally solid, clean, and ready to use — Materials: • Welded steel mesh (frame) • Solid pine wood (arms) • Burgundy red enamel paint that preserves vintage value • Protective clear finish + Renaissance Wax (metal) which is the museum grade wax used and created by the British Museum • Xylazel natural wax (wood) — Dimensions: • Height: 74 cm • Width: 63 cm • Depth: 58 cm — Packaging & shipping: • Chair ships partially disassembled for protection and economy (as originally sold by IKEA). • Carefully and professionally hand-packed • Insured and trackable shipping Keywords: Andy Warhol, Adidas, Alessi, André Saraiva, Armani, Alvar Aalto, Alexander Girard, Aldo Bakker, Apple, Aldo Rossi, Artimide, Anish Kapoor, Artek, Ai Weiwei, Angelo Mangiorotti, Audemars Piquet, Achille Castiglioni, Arne Jacobsen, Agne Jacobsen, Ben Eine, B&B Italia, Basquiat, Blek Le Rat, Bertjan Pot, Brusk, Boud Ceysens, Banksy, Bearbrick, Bentley, Bang Olufsen, Balenciaga, Bitossi, Borek Sipek, Bauhaus, Baccarat, Braun, Breitling, Cappellini C215, Cartier, Charlotte Perriand, Chanel, Christien Meindertsma, Chopard, Ceramic, Cavalli, Christo, Danese Milano, Damien Hirst, Dface, Dior, De Pas, Dollar, D'Urbino, Daniel Arsham, Driade, Diamond, Disney, Dran, Dieter Rams, Eero Saarinen, Ettore Sottsass, Enzo Mari, Euro, Eero Earnio, Ekstrom, Ed Rusha, Eames, Faile, Ferm, Ferrari, Futura, Foscarini, Fin Dac, Friso Kramer, Flos, Fake, Frank Gehry, Gold, Gucci, Gammelgaard, Gio Ponti, Gispen, Gabbianelli, George Nelson, Hayden Kays, Harry Bertoia, Hans-agne Jakobsson, Hermes, Herman Miller, HAY, Hot Wheels, Hockney, Hella Jongerius, Ikea, Ittala, Isamu Noguchi, Imbue, Irma Boom, Invader, James Bond, Jeff Aerosol, Jean Prouve , JR, Jason Freeny, Jordan, Joe Colombo, Jørgensen, JonOne, Jeff Koons, Kembo, Kai Kristiansen, Knoll, Klibansky, Kartell, KAWS, Keith Haring, Konstantin Grcic, Lego, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Leica, Liechtenstein, Louis Poulsen, Le Corbusier, Lagasse, Louis Vuitton, Lomazzi, Ligne Blanche, Martin Watson, Mr Brainwash, Mondriaan, Minotti, Marc Newson, Memphis Milano, Magis, Martiri, Magis, Maarten Van Severen, Maarten Baas, Michele De Lucchi, Mtn, Medicom, Murakami, Maurizio Cattelan, Makkink & Bey, Mr Doodle, Miss Tic, Matteo Thun, Modern, Munday, Marcantoni, Maurizio Cattelan, Montblanc, Moooi, Marcel Wanders, Michele De Lucchi, Natuzzi, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Nike, Nintendo, Obey Giant , Off White, Ottmar Hörl, Orlinski, Parra, Paul Insect, Porsche, Pejac, Perrotin, Pentax, Pierre Giraudon, Pierre Jeanneret, Pop art, Pokemon, Poul Henningsen, Pantone, Philippe Starck, PichiAvo, Pez, Patek Phillipe, Rem Koolhaas, Rietveld, Rolex, Raak, Roche Bobois, Richard Hutten, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Sabine Marcelis, Sandra Chevrier, Shepard Fairey, Supreme, Snik, Space Age, Stik, Seen, Seletti, Seth, Stilnovo, Snarkitecture, Studio Job, Steve Lazarides, Spectrum, Scholten & Baijings, Swarovski, Thonet, Tichelaar, Tintin, Tracey Emin, Verner Panton, USM Haller, Virgil Abloh, Vitra, Vhils, Vico Magistretti, Webe, Xtc, Yayoi Kusama, Yoshitomo Nara, Zanotta
