Ancient Roman Green Chalcedony Bead – Floral Form Ca. 1st – 3rd century AD A beautiful and rare Roman bead carved from green chalcedony, shaped in a floral-like form with softly faceted contours. The stone has a delicate translucency with a vivid natural green hue, distinct from the more common Roman glass beads. Green chalcedony (a variety of agate) was highly valued in antiquity for its beauty and durability. Semi-precious stone beads such as this were worn as part of necklaces or sewn onto garments, often believed to carry protective or amuletic properties.
