Josef Carl (also: Karl) Klinkosch was the son of Carl Klinkosch (1797–1860).
Josef Carl learned the silversmith trade from his father, who had founded the Mayerhofer & Klinkosch manufactory together with Stefan Mayerhofer in 1830/31. Josef Carl took over the manufactory in 1851.[1][2]
The company's customers included not only the upper middle class and aristocrats, but from 1855 onward also the Imperial Court, which awarded it the title of "K.u.k. Court and Chamber Supplier" due to its merits and the high quality of its products.
In 1869, Klinkosch became the sole owner, and the company was renamed J. C. Klinkosch.[1] The company participated in the World Exhibitions in Vienna in 1873 and in Paris in 1878.
In 1879, Josef Carl Klinkosch was knighted.
