A fine Bronze Age cast bronze arrowhead, featuring a triangular blade with gently upward sloping shoulders, and a wide, flat central midrib. The blade descends into a flat stem, slightly flaring at the base and leading to a narrow tang. The midrib has been decorated with incised arrow patterns, though they are now partly worn due to age. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with age, such as chips, particularly to the edges of the blade, scratches, and surface roughness. In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites settled in the Western Asiatic region. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of these bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Most of these bronze items have been recovered in funerary contexts. Measurements: (circa) L 12.9cm x W 2.0cm Provenance: Ex.
