This is an antique secrétaire (secretary desk), most likely from the late 19th to early 20th century, made from (probably) mahogany with birch veneer details and a marble top. The piece has a classic abattant (fall-front desk) design, with a green felt writing surface, a beautifully detailed interior with multiple small drawers, and black ebonized decorative columns. The interior drawers feature contrasting lighter bird’s-eye maple or similar veneer, giving the interior an elegant historic character. It stands on bun feet. The top features a prominent marble slab. This secretaire has been a cherished family heirloom, passed down through several generations and kept within our family for many years.
