Amsterdam School - Armleuchter (2) - Metall
A striking pair of imposing candlesticks designed in the distinctive Art Deco style, dating from the 1920s or 1930s. The design shows strong influences of the Dutch Amsterdam School or Haagse School aesthetics due to their monumental character and use of contrasting materials.
The Netherlands 1920's - 1930's.
Design Features:
. Structure: The candlesticks feature a sturdy cylindrical brass column interrupted by contrasting black rings. This geometric banding is a classic hallmark of the Art Deco period.
. Base: They stand on a heavy, domed tripod base. The three feet are detailed with stylized geometric/scroll relief patterns.
. Top: The candlesticks are designed as "pricket" style holders (often used on altars), featuring a wide drip pan and a sharp central spike intended to hold large pillar candles securely.
This is a beautiful example of European decorative arts from the Interwar period. The impressive size and weight, combined with the strong geometrical lines and the striking contrast between the bright brass and the dark accents, make this pair a superb statement piece for any interior, fitting both modern and traditional styles.
Condition: Good condition. They show a natural patina and signs of age and wear consistent with use. Please study all pictures to make an informed decision, they are part of the description.
