Signed Japanese Ebinata / Hooked-Tip Forestry Axe / Hand-Forged Tool / Collector’s Item / Forged Steel – Mid Showa Period A traditional Japanese Ebinata, used historically for woodworking and forestry work. The blade features a distinctive hooked tip, designed for gripping and pulling branches, stripping bark, and drawing cut limbs toward the user. This specialized form allowed for safe and efficient work, making it one of the representative tools used in Japanese mountain forestry. A blacksmith’s signature (kanji stamp) and the number “85” are visible on the blade. Hammer-forging marks, aged patina, and oxidation remain, showcasing the beauty of traditional Japanese smithing craftsmanship. ⸻ Important Notes • The wooden handle is not original and has been replaced • There is no ferrule (kuchigane) and the blade is currently fixed using a nail • Not suitable for active or heavy practical use, as strong impact may cause the blade to loosen • Tested splitting light firewood, but not fully sharpened • Recommended primarily for collection or display purposes (Please refer carefully to the photos) ⸻ Dimensions (approx.)
