Britisch-Indien. 1 Rupee 1945 (Ohne Mindestpreis)
This is a 1945 British India George VI 1 rupee silver coin issued by the Lahore Mint (L version). Graded MS61 by the NGC, it is one of the more sought-after British India silver coins among collectors.
It belongs to the circulating silver coin period of British India (1858-1947). 1945 was at the end of World War II, when India was still a British colony. The inscription "KING EMPEROR" on the coin corresponds to George VI's status.
"L version" indicates the Lahore Mint (now part of Pakistan). The 1945 1 rupee silver coin from this mint is relatively rare (compared to the Bombay B mint and the Calcutta C mint), making it a "rare" version, and thus commanding a slightly higher premium among collectors.
The NGC is an internationally recognized authoritative coin grading organization. MS61 stands for "Mint State," and 61 points indicates that the coin's details are clear, with minimal wear, showing only minor signs of minting or storage—a relatively good grade for a circulating coin. The obverse features a profile portrait of King George VI and the inscription "GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR"; the reverse features the inscription "ONE RUPEE INDIA 1945" and a floral design, a classic design for late British India silver coins.
