The piece is fired in a kiln, allowing the enamel to melt and harden into a smooth, glossy surface. The name "cloisonné" comes from the French word "cloison," meaning "partition" or "compartment," referring to the cells created by the wire. Yoshida Takeshi is a cloisonné craftsman born in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture in 1943. His achievements include receiving the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare Contemporary Master Craftsman Award and the Yellow Ribbon Medal.
