Studio Simone Post - Simone Post - Kinderstuhl - Holz - Kinderstuhl

This is the “New Old Chair” (children's version) in beautiful shades of blue. They were first exhibited at Art Rotterdam 2021. This children's chair was specially made for Object Rotterdam 2023. A similar chair was also seen as part of the exhibition 'Stoel neemt Stelling' at Centraal Museum Utrecht (acquired by them as well). About the new old furniture collection: Who doesn’t recognise the old wooden chairs? Big chance you have seen them in thrift shops, at your grandparents place or even have them in your own home. They may look outdated but are still comfortable and technical great. Simone Post explored ways of giving these loyal roommates a new lease of life. Why, after all, make a new one when there are already so many chairs? She gives the chairs a new and unique look while accentuating its existing character, with a glimpse of its past still shining through. About Post Simone Post (*1990, Utrecht, the Netherlands) is a multidisciplinary maker with roots in textiles, based in Rotterdam. Growing up, she was surrounded by sewing machines to play around with as her mother conducted sewing classes at home. She graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven with honors in 2015. Simone’s atelier serves as a sanctuary for experimentation and creation with textiles as her ultimate muse. This can find it’s materialisation in various outcomes, such as refurbished and ‘reupholstered’ knob chairs, alienating soft cabinets, pleated ceramics or marshmallow twisted window frames. Post’s work delves deep into color, texture, and print. Her works breath colour and optimism but at the same time are always asking substantive questions. Her work is a testament to the potential of materials, demonstrating that with dedication, craftsmanship, and a sense of wonder, it’s possible to turn seemingly ordinary materials into something extraordinary. She has a portfolio of projects, collaborating with esteemed companies such as Vlisco, Kvadrat, Adidas, and Hermès, yet she is ultimately driven by a profound inner compulsion to create her own highly coveted objects Her work has been exhibited worldwide from Brasil, China, Italy, India, US, Europe and has been acquired by multiple museums, including the Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein, the Centraal Museum, Utrecht, MAD Paris and the Cooper Hewitt, New York
