Vase - Bronze, Kupfer, Legierung - Japan - Takaoka bronze 兼筍(Kenjun) (Ohne mindestpreis)

Artist: Kenjun (兼筍) Material: Bronze (cast), green to turquoise patinated finish Origin: Japan – Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture (attributed) Period: Mid-20th century ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Condition: Good vintage condition. Minor patina loss and age-related surface wear present; photographs of this area are shown at the end of the image set. All accompanying items are limited to what is shown in the photographs. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ This is a Japanese bronze vase crafted in the tradition of Takaoka bronze ware (高岡銅器), a metalworking heritage that has flourished in Toyama Prefecture since the Edo period. The vase features a dignified classical form with twin handles, inspired by ancient ritual bronze vessels. Around the body runs a decorative band of relief phoenix (鳳凰) motifs, rendered in an archaic style and set against a geometric ground pattern. In East Asian tradition, the phoenix symbolizes peace, virtue, and prosperity, adding symbolic depth to the design. The surface shows a rich green to turquoise patina, developed naturally through oxidation over time. Please note that there is a small area of patina loss on the upper body, where the underlying bronze is partially visible. This is consistent with age and does not affect the structure of the piece. The base bears a cast signature reading “兼筍 (Kenjun)”, indicating the artisan’s mark. While detailed published records for this artist are limited, the casting technique, form, decorative motifs, and patination are consistent with mid-20th-century Takaoka bronze production. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Dimensions: Height: approx. 23 cm Mouth diameter: approx. 6.5 cm Body diameter: approx. 15.5 cm Base diameter: approx. 8.5 cm Weight: approx. 1.3 kg ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Shipping • Carefully packed and shipped with tracking. • International shipping via Yamato Transport or Japan Post. • Import duties, taxes, VAT and any other charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These costs are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check your country’s customs regulations before bidding.
