Baktrien Alabaster Gefäß - 7.4 cm
Alabaster vessel. Bactria. 1st millennium BC.
Bactria was an ancient region in Central Asia in Amu Darya's middle stream, stretching north of the Hindu Kush, west of the Pamirs and south of the Gissar range, covering the northern part of Afghanistan, southwestern Tajikistan and southeastern Uzbekistan. It was one of the early centres of Zoroastrianism.
A Bactrian civilization vessel made in a lovely, veined alabaster. The stone is a lovely cream colour, with white and brown veins running through the body. This ancient piece has an almost modern aesthetic.
