Dit is een Westerwald steengoed kan, herkenbaar aan het karakteristieke blauw-grijze zoutglazuur en de decoraties in reliëf.

Conditie: niet gerestaureerd, 100% intact

- de kan verkeerd in een uitstekende staat, er zijn geen aanvullingen gedaan en er is op geen enkele plek enige vorm van kleur hersteld, ofwel gaaf. 

Materiaal en Glazuur: De kan is gemaakt van zeer hard, compact steengoed dat tijdens het bakken is voorzien van een zoutglazuur, wat resulteert in de glanzende, licht korrelige textuur die vaak als "sinaasappelschil" wordt omschreven.

Decoratie: De decoratie is aangebracht door middel van reliëfornamenten (sprig molds) en incisie, ingekleurd met kobaltblauw. Het toont uitgewerkte florale motieven op de buik. 

Oorsprong en Periode: Dit type aardewerk is afkomstig uit de Westerwald-regio in Duitsland. Soortgelijke kannen werden geproduceerd vanaf het begin van de 17e eeuw tot het einde van de 19e eeuw, waarbij de 19e-eeuwse kannen vaak uitgebreidere vormen hadden en bedoeld waren voor decoratieve doeleinden.
