Les masques de danse Mblo font partie de l'une des plus anciennes traditions artistiques baoulé et représentent fréquemment un personnage idéalisé dont certaines caractéristiques esthétiques seront privilégiées. Ils se produisent au cours de manifestations dansées accompagnées de musique et de chants, célébrations, visite de personnalités, mettant en scène des scénarios satiriques variés. Les Gbagba des Baoulé personnifient de gracieuses jeunes filles ou des hommes dont la vaillance ou les qualités d'intégrité sont réputées. Les nouvelles générations remplacent peu à peu ces danses Mblo appelées Gbagba dans certains villages, en conservant la plupart des anciennes conventions, par la danse Kpan Kpan, dont les masques soulèvent des problèmes sociétaux ou font référence à des projets politiques. 36cm 14cm
