Who is Matias Machado ?

Originally from Bordeaux, Matias Machado discovered art through graffiti, using urban space as their first medium of expression. This raw relationship with gesture, color, and visual rhythm immediately shaped a free, instinctive, and visceral artistic approach.

In 2010, they joined the Beaux-Arts of Bordeaux (EBABX), where they developed a strong foundation in both theory and contemporary artistic practices. This academic training marked a turning point, transforming graffiti from a street-based practice into a more complex and layered visual language influenced by abstract expressionism and contemporary cubism.

Today, Matias Machado creates a unique body of work using oil paint, acrylics, spray paint, and oil pastels. Their paintings feature fragmented and hybrid figures, shifting between abstraction and figuration. Each piece is a vibrant composition where visual chaos becomes structure — where the raw energy of graffiti meets refined painterly techniques.

The artwork presented here reflects this style: a deconstructed face, saturated with vivid colors and layered textures, emerging from a dynamic, expressive background. It captures the constant tension between spontaneity and control, between urban memory and studio practice.
