Firmato e datato sulla base: "RGreter 1910";

Robert Greter, artista di origini svizzere, nato a Lucerna nel 1885, è prevalentemente conosciuto per le sue piccole sculture animalier di gusto liberty.

Nel 1911 partecipa all’Esposizione annuale di Belle Arti di Milano con due esemplari di Caprette in bronzo come questa. Mentre nel 1912 presenta un Orso bianco e un Elefante in bronzo. La versione firmata «RGreter» e datata 1910 raffigura la Capretta. 

Comportamento rappresentato:

Lo scultore ha colto un momento quotidiano e intimo: l'animale che si prende cura di sé senza curarsi di chi guarda. È un gesto istintivo, comune nelle capre e nelle pecore, che trasmette immediatezza e vita reale piuttosto che una posa cerimoniale. 

Il modellato a superfici irregolari e la patina scura del bronzo accentuano proprio questa sensazione di movimento e materia viva, invece di una figura liscia.
