A complete and all matching Japanese black and gold lacquer suit-of-armour (yoroi) laced with dark orange and green silk cords, and with a multicoloured and golden orange hem and a 2-piece cuirass (kuro’urushinuri iroiro’ito hi’suso nimai'dô tôsei gusoku) featuring a crest 紋 (mon) depicting a curled dragon 龍 (ryû).

- 10-plate hoshi’bachi kabuto (helmet with domed rivets) with long brass kuwagata-antlers and a ken-shaped maedate decorated with an black open work scrolling foliage ornament. 5-tiered chrysanthemum-shaped tehen’no’kanamono (decorative apex fitting), orange silk agemaki (decorative tassel), 2-tiered ‘itazane’-plate shikoro (neck guards) and large back-bending fukikaeshi (face guards) covered with light decorative ‘smoked leather’ borders and fitted with appliques in the shape of a chrysanthemum flower head 菊 (kiku).
- ‘Angry man’-facial mask (resseibô-type menpô), separate nose-piece with black moustache, and 4-tiered ‘kiritsuke kozane’-plate gorget (yodarekake).
- Sode (shoulder guards), ô-type, constructed with 6 rows of ‘kiritsuke kozane’-plate, accessorized with orange silk cords and decorative tassels.
- Kote (bracer), shino-type, metal pieces connected by Japanese mail (kaushi-gusari), placed over light coloured silk with floral design.
- Dô (cuirass), ‘dangae’-type (lit. step changing), laced lacquered ‘kiritsuke kozane’-plates, above 3 rivetted ‘itazane’-lames with domed rivets boasting a large relief applique showcasing a sinuous dragon. Flanked by a pair of matching agemaki, and with a large one on the back. Above the small tassels hang a pair of so-called “apricot leaves” (gyôyô).
At the bottom fitted with 6-parts of 5-piece ‘itazane’-plate kusazuri (tassets).
- Olive green silk uwa’obi (waistband).
- Haidate (thigh armour), 4-rows black and gold lacquered kiritsuke kozane’-plates, placed on en-suite silk with decorative ‘smoked leather’ borders.
- Suneate (shin guards), ‘shino’-type, with vertical metal plates connected by kaushi-gusari with matching tateage (knee guards).

Complete with a square black lacquered store-box for a suit-of armour (yoroi’bako). The front of the store-box decorated with the character mae 前 (“in front”) in gold. The Kanji "Mae" meaning "the first"; in other words: "I, who has priority above others".

Height with box: approx. 160 cm.

Period: Japan – Mid-Shôwa period (Mid-20th century).

In a good unrestored original condition with some traces of wear conform age. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
