This is a magnificent antique large wooden Tengu mask, expertly crafted with intricate details and hand-painted in vivid colors. 
The mask depicts Tengu, a mythical creature in Japanese folklore known for its long nose and supernatural abilities, often associated with protection against evil spirits. 
The impressive size and deep, expressive carving make this a standout collector's piece.
Traditionally, Tengu masks are used in Kagura (Shinto theatrical dances), Kyogen (comic performances), and Kabuki (classical theater), as well as for protection and warding off evil in shrines and homes.
The deep red color, gold accents, and striking eyes add to its imposing presence.
The craftsmanship showcases the mastery of the artist, bringing life to the mask with finely sculpted facial features and a rich patina developed over time.

It is powerful because of its large size, with the mask measuring approximately 40 cm and the nose 45 cm high.

Item Condition:
The item has fading and minor scratches due to age.
There is a crack in the lacquer at the base of the nose, but the crack is only on the surface and the nose has not been removed.
