Geert Vrijdag had iets rustigs over zich, alsof hij altijd net één stap langzamer liep dan de rest van de wereld. Niet uit luiheid, maar uit aandacht. Hij luisterde echt wanneer iemand sprak, keek even op voordat hij antwoord gaf, en leek daardoor meer te zien dan anderen. Vrijdag was zijn favoriete dag, niet omdat het weekend begon, maar omdat de week dan afgerond voelde. Alsof alles wat onaf was, nog één kans kreeg om goed te komen.

Origineel werk, gesigneerd rechtsonder en acrylverf op papier. 

Geert hield van kleine rituelen: dezelfde koffie, dezelfde stoel, hetzelfde korte moment van stilte aan het einde van de dag. Mensen noemden hem soms voorspelbaar, maar wie beter keek, zag dat hij juist ruimte liet voor wat ertoe deed. Geen haast, geen opsmuk. Gewoon aanwezig zijn.

En misschien was dat wel zijn grootste kwaliteit: Geert Vrijdag herinnerde je eraan dat niet alles sneller, groter of luider hoeft. Soms is “genoeg” echt genoeg.
