William Booth (1829-1912) was een Engelse methodistische predikant. 
Samen met zijn vrouw Catherine richtte hij in 1865 in Londen de christelijke beweging op die later bekend werd als het Leger des Heils (The Salvation Army). 
De organisatie had een quasi-militaire structuur en richtte zich op evangelisatie en sociale hervorming, met name onder de armen in de East End van Londen. 
Het Leger des Heils groeide uit tot een van de grootste distributeurs van humanitaire hulp wereldwijd.
