Description from the seller
Bohemian Ruby Red Glass Decanter with Engraved Grapevine Decoration, late 19th century
This antique glass decanter originates from Bohemia and dates to the late 19th century, reflecting the high level of craftsmanship associated with Central European glass production of that period. Its rich coloration and detailed engraving make it a distinctive and decorative example of historical glassware.
The decanter is made from blown ruby red glass with a deep, luminous tone. The body is embellished with finely engraved grape clusters and vine leaves, forming a continuous grapevine motif that has been partially frosted to stand out against the dark red background. This decorative contrast enhances the visual depth and elegance of the piece while referencing traditional symbols of abundance and celebration.
It is fitted with its original stopper, featuring a stepped, multi-tiered form that complements the sculptural shape of the neck. When exposed to light, the glass displays a pleasing brilliance and strong color saturation.
