You are bidding on a very fine 4/4 italian violin, labeled Antonio Gagliano via Cirriglio N 75 Giovanni Neap. fecot Anno 1829. The instrument remains in good condition with no cracks, new boxwood pegs and and old Pirastro strings. There are some tears and wears to original golden amber varnish.
The violin has an excellent high to medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple wood with matched sides and scroll. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The whole length of the violin is 589 mm and the back 359 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 163 mm; middle bouts: 109 mm; lower bouts: 200 mm. The sound is very sweet and rich. Don't hesitate to contact me for any questions. Shipping worldwide insured!
