Manuscript persian ancient, a two-page administrative Persian–Indo-Persian manuscript written in nastaʿlīq, dating from 1750–1850, measuring 30 × 20 cm, in good condition, with the book title Manuscrit persan ancien.
Description from the seller
Ancient Persian manuscript – Recto-verso leaf, administrative document – Nastaʿlīq script. Iran or Indo-Persian world – 18th / early 19th century.
Original handwritten manuscript written in Persian, in black ink, on ancient oriental paper. The document is written on both sides in an elegant cursive nastaʿlīq script, characteristic of administrative and legal uses in the Persian world during the 18th and early 19th centuries.
The text features a continuous layout, with no apparent ruling, and a smooth organization of the main paragraph. Several handwritten marginal notes are observed, along with a calligraphic validation mark or signature at the end of the text, attesting to the official function of the document.
The paper support, in cream to beige hue, shows a beautiful antique patina, with visible plant fibers and a soft texture characteristic of oriental rag paper. The ink, well preserved, shows no corrosion or perforation.
Functionally, the structure of the text and the vocabulary used indicate an administrative or legal document (declaration, written commitment, acknowledgment, or official correspondence), rather than a literary or poetic text.
Good overall condition
Age-related wear and light foxing, with visible old creases, but no major tears or missing parts. The sheet is complete.
30cm x 20cm (a common format sheet for this type of old administrative document).
18th – early 19th century, estimated based on writing style, paper, and administrative formulation.
Authentic manuscript from the Persian world, appreciated by collectors of Islamic manuscripts, nastaʿlīq calligraphy, and administrative historical documents. Suitable for both a specialized collection and decorative display.
Dating 1750–1850
