Horace Roye (British, 1906-2002) - Arthur Ferrier's Lovelies 15, 1941

Eternal Eve 26, 1947, gelatin-silver print, with copyright stamps of the photographer and Camera Studies Club (verso). The photograph was published in the book "Arthur Ferrier's Lovelies", Chapman and Hall, London, 1941 In very good condition. Please check the scans for details. Horace Roye (1906–2002) and the photographer known as Vala were London-based pioneers of mid-century glamour photography. In the 1950s they co-invented the “Roye-Vala” 3D process and issued the Stereo Glamour Series—pocket books of nude and showgirl studies supplied with a Roye-Vala viewer—making their images a cult collectible. Roye, already famous for provocative pre-war nudes and censorship battles, brought polished lighting and bold staging; Vala’s studio craft helped translate that style into striking stereoscopic prints. Vintage Roye-Vala items (books, cards, and prints) are sought after for their innovative technique and iconic place in British popular photography.
